Everest Program

Every Thursday at DPS in Terms Two and Three, select students from Level Three to Six participate in extension sessions which is known as the Everest Program to explore an array of English and Numeracy topics. Students are given an opportunity to help to decide what areas are covered in the classes and enjoy working with like-minded peers. In Term Two, the students focus on mathematical skills and in Term three, they have a literacy focus. Many levels take part in group projects such as class newspapers and magazines. Throughout both terms, general knowledge and life skills are incorporated, based on students queries and interests.  DPS students thoroughly enjoy these sessions and always have a consistent positive attitude towards their learning. In Term Four, all Everest students take part in online ISA testing where they can apply all their knowledge and demonstrate their capabilities.

Victorian High-Ability Program

The Victorian High-Ability Program (VHAP) is a program designed to support high ability students by providing access to challenging content in English or mathematics. This allows them the chance to connect and share ideas with peers who share similar abilities from other schools. The students join an online class, led by a VHAP teacher for an hour once a week. During these sessions they can challenge their thinking and collaborate with like-minded students from around Victoria. Students are provided with the opportunity to further their critical thinking skills and expand their understanding on complex concepts and ideas with this enrichment program.
