On Monday, 1st May, Level 5 had the opportunity to participate in a high-impact and fun-filled workshop about Earth in space. They investigated the forces involved around Earth and the Solar System. In this session, students:
- used a scale model to show the relative distances of each planet from the sun and understand how long it takes each planet to complete an orbit.
- investigated the forces that hold planets in their orbit including gravity and centripetal forces.
- modelled Earth’s rotation and orbit to explore regular changes such as day and night and the seasons
- set up a follow-up experiment to investigate the growth of plants in different conditions such as those found on other planets.
It was a lot of fun and we look forward to exploring the concepts we learnt further in our weekly Science lessons.
